Train to Pondo

V1 In a town in Colorado, high in the mountains in the middle of the fall
aspen trees guard the tracks, soldiers red and yellow, standing proud and tall
and there’s an old freight train smoking thru the mountains,
you can hear the whistle blow
it’s that old train that goes to Pondo
V2 The train leaves the station, but there’s really no station there at all
you must catch one going slow, or you may not catch one at all
And if you fall off, it’s just a lesson you must learn … to know
from that old train that goes to Pondo
CHORUS
Oh the train is slowing down cuz he can’t make his ground going up that hill
The engineer calls in, says send me more engines if you will
V3 oh and honeybees line the tracks and buzz on top of flowers and you’re
blowin’ in the wind
And you would like to get off now just to set your mind at ease again.
But you’re only goin’ down past the mining towns, to a place nobody
knows
On that old train that goes to Pondo
CHORUS
Oh the train is slowing down cuz he can’t make his ground going up that hill
The engineer calls in, says send me more engines if you will
And you're only goin’ down past the mining towns, to a place nobody
knows, on that old train that goes to Pondo
Yes you’re only going down past the mining towns, to a place nobody
knows, on that old train that goes to Pondo
