Meet the Band

Paul Sacco
Lead Guitarist/Singer
Paul Sacco, singer and guitarist, began writing music and playing guitar at age 10. Paul was the middle son of 2 musical parents, his mother was a virtuoso pianist. Guitar was an easy alternative to the accordion, which his parents forced him to play.
In private catholic school, Paul would memorize his piano lessons and play them back by ear while getting his knuckles rapped by the nuns for not learning how to read music. He wrote and sang commericals in Nashville, and has been in various bands all his life. His solo recordings are on most streaming services. According to Paul, "There was always a river of energy running beneath me that made me want to write songs. That river caught fire when my daughter Aubrey went missing in 2010.
His current band, The Five Month Journey is the "band of his life". It was formed to enable him to play with his son Morgan and to keep Aubrey's memory alive.

Scott Kortmeyer
Drummer
Scott has always had a passion for the drums and will forever be a student of them. He believes they cure headaches and that everyone should own a set just to beat on after a rough day! He feels extremely fortunate to be a part of this amazing ensemble of musicians. The excitement and energy they all possess is contagious and they heighten his abilities. This musical experience to him reaches deep down to the heart & soul of what matters. Thanks to all of his bandmates. Rock On!

Ken Forsythe
Bassist/Singer
Ken is a Colorado-based singer/songwriter, guitarist and bassist. Ken studied classical piano as a youngster and later studied acoustic folk guitar at the Fidel school for the Creative Arts in Long Island.
Ken played guitar and bass in cover bands in southeast Nebraska in the 1980s. More recently, Ken has been playing both covers and original music in Northern Colorado.

Rick Fooshee
Keyboardist/Singer
Rick has been playing piano & singing/performing for most of his life, thanks to the influence of his family and growing up in a musical household. He now plays for fun and enjoyment with FMJ, but also to tell part of his own narrative though the incredible gift of song.

Morgan Sacco
Guitarist/Singer
Morgan (Acoustic Guitar, Harmony/Lead Vocals) has been a rhythm guitarist for FMJ since its formation circa 2017. He taught himself to play on his sister's guitar after she went missing in 2010. His father, Paul (also in the band) encouraged him from an early age to take up Piano & Bass and has been a musical inspiration. Morgan also draws influence from Singer/Songwriter & Folk Musicians like Avett Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel, Ben Howard and Lord Huron.
We are five guys from Northern Colorado who enjoy creating our own original music at all costs.
Typically, our songs grapple with serious issues such as: life, loss, love, newborn babies, drugs, death, suicide, and missing persons.
Together, along with barking dogs, our work and the emotions that it generates may take you to a place you haven't been before.
In particular, we celebrate and honor the lives of Aubrey Sacco, who went missing while trekking in Nepal in 2010, and Jacob Fooshee, who was murdered in 2021.
The band has persevered through quitters, naysayers and nearly empty venues where people still yell "Hey - can you play Freebird?"
